About MS 131‎ > ‎

Our Academies

MS 131 is divided into two unique academies, bringing a small school feel to a large school.  Each child selects an academy, Community and Technology or Leaders and Technology, during summer orientation, and spends all three years in the academy.  The academy structure offers a supportive atmosphere to strengthen the relationships between students and teachers.

The Academy of Leaders and Technology  is  dedicated to developing the leadership potential in all children. We want to surface whatever natural ability and desire exists within our students, and guide them to develop the skills needed to excel as “leaders” in the 21st century.  We strive to nurture your child’s love of reading, writing, math, arts and/or sports.  We seek opportunities for your child experience leadership in and outside of school. They will only be middle-schoolers for three years, but will be members of our society for a long time to come. Our mission reflects this desire to educate beyond the walls of the classroom.  Members in our Academy identify problems, seek solutions, and take action to bring about positive change.  Leaders work to better themselves and the world around them.
