Mission: Dr. Sun Yat Sen M.S. 131's dance mission is to support the transformation of youth through the power of dance. The dance education curriculum is designed to create strong technical dancers where skill and confidence are acquired along with a passion for the performing arts. The curriculum is aligned with the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance, and Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Teaching. Students grow as professional dancers, critical thinkers, choreographers, teachers, leaders, and collaborators. Literacy and technology are integrated into the curriculum to support dance making, dance literacy, and deepening understanding of societal, cultural, and historical context of dance.
